Australian Solo Championship line-up decided - January 2014

The full line-up for the 2013/14 Australian 500cc Solo Speedway Championship has been finalised after a qualifying meeting at Kurri Kurri Speedway in New South Wales tonight.

As previously reported, eight riders were seeded into the championship rounds. In alphabetical order they were Troy Batchelor (SA-the defending champion), Jason Doyle (NSW), Josh Grajczonek (Qld), Chris Holder (NSW), Jack Holder (NSW), Dakota North (Vic), Rohan Tungate (NSW) and Cameron Woodward (Vic).

The remaining eight riders who qualified tonight were: Sam Masters (NSW 13), Tyson Nelson (Qld 13), Mason Campton (NSW 11), Justin Sedgmen (Vic 11), Max Fricke (Vic 11), Kurt Shields (NSW 10), Jake Anderson (Vic 8) and Daine Stevens (NSW 8). Non-qualifiers were:  Matthew Day (Qld 7), Tyson Snow (Qld 7), Jake Allen (Qld 6), Joey Ringwood (NSW 6), Jye Etheridge (NSW 5), Hunter Anderson (NSW 3), Brodie Waters (Vic 1), Josh MacDonald (NSW 0). Nick Morris (Qld) and Alan MacDonald (NSW) did not ride and were replaced in the selected line-up by Josh MacDonald and Kurt Shields. Shields only came into the meeting twenty minutes before the start but managed to qualify!

The first round of the championship is at Kurri Kurri tomorrow night (Sat 4 Jan); the second round is at Undera in Victoria on Wed 8 Jan; and the deciding round is at Gillman Speedway in Adelaide on Sat 11 Jan.

In the meantime, Gillman Speedway has a meeting this Sunday night (5 Jan) with the Speedway Racing News South Australian Sidecar Championship.
