Darrin Treloar/Blake Cox return to Gillman Speedway
11 March 2021 by Gillman Media
11-time Australian Sidecar Champion Darrin Treloar, and passenger Blake Cox, will make their first appearance in South Australia this season when they defend their Bob White Sidecar Cup at Adelaide’s Gillman Speedway on Saturday night (13 March).
Treloar is doing much less interstate travel from his Sydney home these days, but the Bob White Cup meeting means a lot to Treloar, and he and Cox are not only the defending Cup holders but have won the event on the only two occasions it has been held.
Newly crowned South Australian champions Mick Headland/Brenton Kerr, and former SA and Australian champion Mark Mitchell, and current passenger Tony Carter, will be Treloar’s main opposition to winning a third successive Cup, but there are any number of other possible challengers with almost every rider in the line-up capable of making at least the semi-final and, with a good run, the final.
UPDATE: Thursday afternoon. Although his name will appear in the programme because they are already printed, Mick Headland has withdrawn because of work commitments.
The junior Sidecar riders will also be competing for a Bob White Cup and it is a similar story to the seniors with Darrin’s son Jake Treloar, and passenger Isaac Mitchell, the defending holders, and Treloar also going for a third successive win.
There will also be support events for 500cc Solos, Flat Track Solos, Classic Sidecars and 125cc Junior Solos.
