Darcy Ward meeting set for Gillman Speedway Stadium on November 7 - August 2015

Nominations are now being taken for the annual Gillman Speedway Classic Championships meeting, which this year will be on Sunday, 1 November 2015.
The meeting, which is a family night of old time speedway which marks the transition between the Sunday morning winter practice meetings and the professional Saturday night summer season, has traditionally been held on the last Saturday night in October, but this year will be run on the Sunday to avoid a clash with a meeting at Mildura.
With the change of race night there will also be a change of start time, with racing to start at 5 pm. Entrance gates will open at 2 pm and spectators will have free access to view the bikes in the pits until 4 pm. The meeting is expected to finish around 8 pm.
As in past years, Championship events will be held for JAP/ESO Solo bikes (riders aged 45 & over; also competing for the Jeff Fisher Perpetual Trophy); 2 valve Solos (riders aged over 30); 4 valve Solos; British & European Sidecars; Japanese Sidecars; Post Classic Sidecars and Evolution Sidecars. There will also be non-championship events for Laydown Solos (riders aged 50 and over) and demonstration events for Classic Three Quarter Midgets.
The Supplementary Regulations and Entry Forms can be found on the Nominations Tab on the Gillman Speedway website, and as per the Supplementary Regulations entries close on Friday, 23 October 2015. The popularity of the event amongst competitors is shown by the first three entries for the event, each is from a different State – Wayne Ware/Jeff Bourke (Queensland), Barry Kennington (WA) and Roy Stout (ex Queensland, now South Australia).
The Classic meeting usually also pays tribute to a former speedway personality but in another change of tradition this year it will honour two of the most admired volunteer workers at the Speedway, Don and Des Marker, who have been dedicated and tireless workers at the venue from day one.
