March 26, 2015 by Gillman Media
The final meeting of the 2014/15 Gillman Speedway season will take place on Saturday afternoon, 11 April, when a round of the Heffernan Motorsports Solo Series will be held.
The Heffernan Series has been held in the Eastern states for the last two seasons but this year is expanding and holding the first of the ten rounds at Gillman. The meeting will be an afternoon meeting, starting at 1pm to allow riders bike maintenance, and travel, time before the second round in Mildura the next day.
Each round has a full programme of 500cc, 250cc and Junior 125cc Solo events and senior champion and junior champions will be crowned at the conclusion of the series as well as a ‘grand champion’– the grand champion being the highest overall point scorer from all classes. The overall prize pool for the 2015 series will be a guaranteed minimum of $10,000 in vouchers redeemable at retail prices via the Heffernan Motorsports spare parts network.
The series was created to give a meaningful competition for riders not competing in Europe and will be contested by riders from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
Last season’s series went right to the wire with Tyson Nelson (500cc) the winner ahead of Cooper Riordan (250cc).
Early nominations for the Gillman meeting are Mason Campton, Jye Etheridge, Josh Pickering and Kieran Sproule (NSW), Josh Coyne (Qld) and Daniel Winchester (WA).
For the Gillman meeting there will also be a Shane Parker coaching clinic on the Friday night (10 April).
All nominations for the race meeting go to Heffernan Motorsports via text on 0407846433; and for the training school to Shane Parker on spdinc12@gmail.com.
