Gillman Speedway 2014/15 season dates - February 2014
February 16, 2014 by Gillman Media
With only three meetings before the end of the season, the management of Gillman Speedway have been looking at plans for next season and have released the speedway’s dates for next season, 2014/15.
When announcing the dates recently, speedway manager David Parker said: “The Executive are very mindful that we should get our dates out to the general public and riders as soon as possible. In the case of Gillman it is not that difficult because the dates are basically the same every season.
“We always start with a pre-season Classic meeting on the last Saturday in October and then run fortnightly until the first Saturday in December before having a break until Christmas.
“We then resume just after Christmas and our January, February and March dates always within a day of the previous season’s meetings, and our patrons have been brought up for 14 years knowing, as a general rule, we run every 2 weeks.
When asked why he always puts out the following season’s dates so early in the year, Parker explained: “We have found that if we produce our calendar early, say by April, it allows other venues some dates to work with, and hopefully we can avoid too many clashes.
“Unfortunately there will always be some clashes, as there was this season. This is completely understandable, and sometimes unavoidable, but if we all waited until September to work out our season’s fixtures, we would be in more strife than we could handle.
“When there is an unavoidable clash we try to put on a meeting on that does not deter a section from travelling to another venue, for example this season we ran the South Australian Sidecar Championship when the solo riders were committed to the Australian Solo Championship.”
The dates for next season are listed below. The feature events for each date will be confirmed once the dates and venues for the Australian Championships have been approved by Motorcycling Australia.
25 October (Classic Championships), 8 November, 22 November, 6 December, 28 December (Sunday), 3 January, 10 January, 24 January, 7 February, 21 February, 7 March, 21 March,
