Gillman Speedway on The Rise - September 2015
September 6, 2015 by Gillman Media
The development of Adelaide’s Gillman Speedway Stadium is on the rise in more ways than one!
Firstly there is a brand new season sponsor for 2015/16, The Rise Littlehampton, a premium land release in the Adelaide Hills proudly developed by the Tali Corporation.
Tali Corporation is a quality land developer, and highly experienced builder, and their latest development is The Rise Littlehampton, located in the heart of the beautiful Adelaide hills region in the picturesque town of Littlehampton, a short 18 minute drive on the freeway from the Adelaide city.
Within walking distance of a vast range of lifestyle amenities including recreation, schools, shops, medical facilities, walking trails, restaurants, family activities and much more, Littlehampton is one of the iconic villages of the Adelaide hills and only minutes from others including Hahndorf, Balhannah, Stirling, Mt Barker, Oakbank and more.
The Rise Littlehampton will have naming rights to the President’s Trophy & Heffernan Motorsports Solo Series meeting on 19 March 2016, but in the meantime the sponsorship has enabled the Gillman staff to erect a new wind-break fence along the top of the northern and eastern spectator viewing mounds, meaning the entire spectator area is now protected from the wind. The wind-break fences certainly increase the comfort of spectators as those who sit on the Graham Baker Terracing, which has been fenced for several seasons, will readily testify.
In other good news for spectators, the venue is also “on the rise” on the back straight with the addition of a new 216 seat grandstand.
“It has always been our intention to put a grandstand on the back straight” said Speedway Manager David Parker, “which is why we left that area flat while building up the mounds and terracing in the other spectator areas, and now, thanks to our many sponsors, the stand has come perhaps a bit quicker than we expected. The grandstand was formerly used for the Clipsal 500, and the feedback has been outstanding from all who have seen it, and hopefully it will translate into increased attendances which allow us to continue with more improvements next winter.”
