Gillman Speedway Stadium to host Arena Cross event

The Speedway Riders Association of SA, in conjunction with the Motocross Riders Association, are pleased to announce the first ever Arena Cross will take place at the Gillman Speedway Stadium on Saturday, September 22.

This will be a day/night meeting that will include both junior and senior competition.

“We have been talking about this unique event for some time” said Speedway Manager Dave Parker. “Both clubs have been waiting for the right time and I think now is the time to do it.”

“The SRA and MRA have a great working relationship and frequently use each other’s facilities or machinery, and with the SRA’s experience in conducting night events with the facilities needed, and MRA’s wealth of knowledge in conducting Motocross events and building tracks, I think we have a win-win situation for both clubs, riders and spectators.”

The centre green of Gillman Speedway will be transformed into a spectacular track and patrons will be able to see all the action, up close and personal, from the terraces or the grandstand.

MRA President Mark Walmsley agreed with Parker’s sentiments and added, “with mx numbers dramatically on the increase, the success of our new tracks and the way we are doing events at Gillman, now is the perfect time to bring an Arena Cross to the riders and spectators. We have the machinery, the right soil to build the track and between the two clubs, I’m sure this will be a huge success for the sport in South Australia.”
