International Solo stars at Gillman Speedway Monday night
by Gillman Media 23 December 2020
Three-time World Champion Jason Crump will make a rare appearance at Adelaide’s Gillman Speedway when he headlines a full field of riders from four different States in the Gillman Solo Spectacular next MONDAY night, 28 December.
Joining Crump at the top of the line-up, and equal favourites to take the major prize are fellow internationals Justin Sedgmen, Jaimon Lidsey (both from Victoria) and Ryan Douglas (Qld).
Sedgmen and Douglas have both in good form in recent meetings. Sedgmen won the Jack Young Cup at the last Gillman meeting, and last weekend won his third Victorian Championship, while Douglas went very close to defending the Queensland Championship he won last season when he won all of his heats only to be beaten by Josh Grajczonek in the final.
Lidsey has not yet ridden in Australia this season but is coming off a very successful European season where he was a consistently high scorer in the Polish Ekstraliga (the World’s toughest speedway league) and won the World Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic.
Other riders in the mix for a semi-final, or final berth, include local stars Dakota Ballantyne, Fraser Bowes and Robert Medson; former world 250cc champion Matthew Gilmore from NSW, current Queensland Under 21 champion Jacob Hook, and another talented teenager Connor Bailey.
More Solos, Sidecars, Flat Track Solos and Juniors will make up the support programme.
Gates open at 4pm to allow for any possible delays because of the mandatory QR code check in, although the system worked smoothly last meeting, so no delays are expected. Racing will start at 7pm.
This is the last meeting for 2020.
