Former international rider Shane Parker will defend his Gillman Speedway track solo championship title at Gillman this Saturday night, 23 November.
Parker returned to Adelaide in 2012 after 21 years competing in Europe, and rode in selected meetings at Gillman last season, including the CBS Bins Gillman Solo Championship which he won ahead of Robert Branford, Max Fricke and Justin Sedgmen.
Although Parker had an easy win in the final, he didn’t have an easy time of it in his heat races and was beaten by Branford in his opening heat. He also had a tough time against Arlo Bugeja in his second ride when they rode side-by-side for the first three laps before Parker edged ahead for a five metre win.
Parker then kicked up a gear however, winning his final heat as well as the final quite easily.
Branford won a four lap wheel-to-wheel battle with Fricke and Sedgmen for second place in the final, and all four riders will contest the 2013 title.
