Sidecar Grand Slam Series Returns For The 2013/14 season - July 2013
June 28, 2013 by Gillman Media
The Winter practice days at Gillman Speedway, which have been suspended while the pit area was being bituminised by Downer, a leading engineering and infrastructure services company (see photo below), are set to resume.
With the pit renovations almost completed, a practice day has been scheduled for a fortnight’s time on Sunday, 14 July.
With the pits now surfaced there will be strict adherence to Motorcycling Australia’s National Environmental Code and Management Plan – which aims to prevent pollution and minimise the potential for adverse environmental impacts – and in future no bikes will be allowed to be unloaded unless there is an Enviro Mat going under where the bike will be parked.
Not only is it a stipulation in the Manual of Motorsport under the Environmental code, but oil, fuel, chain lubes etc. all dissolve bitumen, and each bike must have a full mat that catches all oil from the motor or chain.
These mats are just $5 each and can be purchased from the Gillman Souvenir Shop, but must be purchased PRIOR to the bike being unloaded. This includes bikes that use the grassed area.
No bikes with a total loss system will be allowed to be used at Gillman, unless they are fitted with a catch tank that contains all the used oil.
In other news the dates for the Sidecar Grand Slam Series have been finalised and some of the series riders named, and this news will be on the Gillman Speedway website over the weekend.
