How did Shane Parker do this? - January 2014
January 28, 2014 by Gillman Media
A rare mistake by Shane Parker cost him the Jack Young Cup at Gillman on Sunday night, but nevertheless he produced at least one bit of class riding which saved himself and Jye Etheridge from serious injury.
He says having the occasional rides gets the adrenaline flowing. Well it must have been flowing pretty fast during this incident in heat 11 captured by Judy Mackay.
Etheridge started from gate 1, Parker from two and Etheridge made a very good start but reared up onto the back between turns one and two and slid straight into the path of Shane Parker
A terrible crash looked certain, but somehow – we still don’t know how – Parker locked his bike up and managed to drive between Etheridge and his bike as the slid across in front of him.
Parker did fall heavily further down the track but basically both riders were able to walk away relatively unscathed.
