dyovest.com Sidecar Grand Slam result - February 2015
February 1, 2015 by Gillman Media
The second biggest crowd of the season (behind the Australian Solo Championship) witnessed a thrilling, and extremely unpredictable night’s racing in the dyovest.com Sidecar Grand Slam Round at Gillman Speedway last night, but after all the twists and turns there was still the most predictable of winners — Australian Champions Darrin Treloar and Blake Cox.
After only scoring 10 points in the heats — which was still enough to finish as equal second highest scorer because the point scores were so tight — Treloar and Cox won the final comfortably from Mick Headland/Jesse Headland and Mark Mitchell/Tom Golding. The fourth starter, Justin Plaisted/Sam Harrison, who finished 4 points clear of the next best scorers in the heats, were excluded from the final after a collision with Mitchell/Golding.
The race of the night was the preceding race, the semi-final, in which Headland/Headland, Mark Drew/Steve Blair and Mark Plaisted/Brian Anthony continually exchanged places before Headland won narrowly from Plaisted and Drew. Byren Gates/Michael O’Loughlin were also right in the mix early on, and the bikes were virtually four wide at the end of the first lap, but Gates retired on the third lap.
Full heat results will be on the Gillman Speedway website on Sunday morning.
