Change of date for South Australian Sidecar Championship - September 2016
September 12, 2016 by Gillman Media
There has been a change of date for the 2017 Sailun Tyres South Australian Sidecar Championship at Gillman Speedway.
Originally scheduled for 7 January, the event will now be held a week later on 14 January. There will be no Gillman meeting on 7 January.
Although it is way too early to be able to announce the format it is anticipated that the meeting will be run along similar lines to last season, when 42 races were required to decide the new champion at Gillman with a 20-heat qualifying meeting held at 3pm, followed by the championship heats at 7.30pm.
A huge crowd witnessed an exciting night’s racing which culminated in a win for father and son team, Mick and Jesse Headland, after a close race with Riverland brother-sister youngsters Arron and Teagan Hartwig, with former SA Champion Mark Mitchell (substitute passenger Darcy Risstrom) third and Australian Champions Justin Plaisted/Sam Harrison fourth. The win was Mick’s third but the first for Jesse.
