Australian Sidecar Champions, International Solo riders at Gillman Speedway
Gillman Media 8 December 2021
Australian Sidecar Champions Mark Plaisted and Ben Pitt and international Solo riders Fraser Bowes, Brayden McGuinness and Liam May, will headline the Gillman Speedway on this Saturday night, 11 December.
With Plaisted living in Adelaide, and Pitt in Mildura, border closures means this will be their first appearance anywhere since they won the title at Mildura in April.
Kym Menadue/Eric Melton are also back after missing the last meeting, along with the winners of the final that night, Mitch Spear/Glen Zaworski, while Kane Golding/Isaac Amos, Daniel Puddy/Byron Maurdant, Jack Spear/Mark Papas and Adam Pascoe/Seth Pascoe are all making their first appearance for the season.
Fraser Bowes, home from a season based in Germany, won the Solo final at the last meeting, but Kiwi Jake Turner continued his good form to challenge him throughout the night, including a win in their last heat race, but they’ll face stronger opposition this week with the return of Brayden McGuinness and Liam May from Europe, plus Cooper Riordan down from Mildura.
They all be looking to come out on top Saturday night to strike a psychological blow against the others in what will be their last (and in some cases first) meeting at Gillman before the state championship on 28 December.
In the Flat Track Solos the main contenders to take out the final Kyle Machin, Dylan McKenzie, Seane Chapman and Roy Stout.
LATE CHANGES: Liam May has injured his shoulder at work and at this stage will not be riding, however his name will still be in the programme as it was already at the printer. Also Aaron Silvy/Jaron Silvy out. Cooper Riordan out 10/12/21.
